Hope you are doing fine but this time, I am sad😞

Sad because this week was little hectic and so I had to awake late at the night to meet the work deadlines😪

And you guys know that it happens with me every time that I get under-eye circles if I don’t get a good sleep!

I looked like a zombie. 👽

So I decided to do really something for my dark circles, maybe some home-made remedies which could help me get rid of dark circles.

After all, your eyes are the most expressive part of your face.

There are some causes like – ‘No Sleep, Stress, Dehydration, Aging, Hormonal Changes or Excessive Sun Exposure’ which can result in puffiness and under-eye bags!

What Causes Dark Circles?

The skin in the area around the eyes is thinner than the skin anywhere on the rest of the body. This is caused by it having little to nil subcutaneous tissue.

Lack of padding results in fragility and translucence. The blood vessels in the area are visible on the surface because of this. The common factors causing dark circles are:

Sleep cycle: Lack of sleep and oversleeping can create dark circles. The fatigue caused by sleep deprivation also causes circles to get prominent. The skin pales making the blood vessels and dark tissues under the skin visible. Sleep deprivation also increases the fluid build-up under the eyes making them puffy, and the dark circles might be shadows caused by the puffy eyelids.

Age: As you age, dark circles increase as the skin gets thinner. Skin’s elasticity is a result of the fat and collagen in the skin, and these reduce with age, making the dark veins under the eyes more visible.

Eye fatigue: Straining the eyes by staring at the computer screen or television results in the blood vessels around the eyes to enlarge. This makes the skin there darken.

Allergic reactions: Allergies and dry eyes can also cause dark circles.

Lack of water: Dehydration can also trigger dark circles. Lack of water makes the skin under the eyes dull and sunken, making it look dark.

Too much sun: Overexposure to the sun causes excessive melanin production in the body that can result in dark circles.

Genetic predisposition: Family history of developing dark circles is also a cause.

Tip: One of the most common current causes of dark circles is staring at the screen. Ensure you take a proper break for the eyes in between to ensure they don’t strain.

I know so many of my friends are really worried about taking away off their dark circles and trying out ways to just get rid of them in any of the ways but unfortunately ends up with zero results.

When I was experimenting with the home remedies, I really explored that there are so many things which can help you reduce your puffiness under your eyes which I feel like sharing with you guys…

So hold tight because I’m gonna tell about dark circle remedies natural in following and how you can easily get rid of your dark circles and that shitty puffiness💁 

1. First of all, just change your bedtime.

This is the very first important tip if you really want to get rid of your dark circles.

Go and sleep for at least 8 hours a night. I know it sounds obvious and that’s because it is! All the way through my busy day, I just keep running, working with only 5 hours of sleep a night.

Like seriously I could manage to do that but that had a really bad effect on my skin and eyes over time.

I would make my self busy all day all night with emails or with my to-do list, events, work deadlines or any sort of project completion etc. and then I had to wake up early at 6 a.m to make sure I never miss my workout routine with my best friend and then again stay busy for the whole day till midnight. And in the end, I feel like a dead human!

And this was so so obvious because I was not giving my sleep hours ‘ a priority’! So after all this, I made an effort to get free from all my stuff and forced myself to sleep till 10 p.m every night.

Yes, Every night!

At first, it was difficult for me to go to bed so early but after the fourth or fifth day I was pretty comfortable and then I used to wake up with the sunrise and getting tired after the sunset.

My sleep time became natural.

Also, I would feel positive energy throughout the day and didn’t feel like I need coffee any more to get up.

When all this was set, I also take a step ahead to replace my coffee!

2. I said Goodbye to Coffee!

Yes! 

Have you ever had a cup of coffee whenever you feel sleepy?

I am sure, you would definitely have! Ever been lazy or stressful because of overworking and overexertion and drinking a cup of coffee would all solve it!

I remember I used to sip up coffee late night to stay up to finish up with my work, but later I realized I was doing so bad to my body!

So with a flow of change in my sleep time, I also swapped my coffee with green tea!

Yeah! because it has natural caffeine(although lower than coffee). But this was a good step!

This was a hard one for me to do but it helped me tremendously to stay boosted and fresh all day.


And all the way, we know that how green tea is so beneficial for our body, and it helped me in reducing my tummy fat, brought my body with great freshness and within a week, Green tea was a part of my daily life.


You can also try this –  “Cold green tea bags can relax your eyes and moreover, it can help to reduce dark circles. For this, you need to take 2 tea bags in hot water for 3-5 minutes and then place them in a container and store it in the refrigerator for about 20-25 mins. After that take them out and squeeze the liquid and lay those tea bags on your eyes. Leave for 10-15 mins and it will reduce your dark circles.”

3. My Grandma’s Remedy – Coconut oil 

My grandma used to say that coconut oil is full of benefits. She used to say to me to apply coconut oil whenever I had puffy eyes. 

And the virgin coconut oil I used helped me to reduce all the darkness under my eyes.

Why did it work? Simply, because the antioxidants and vitamin E included in coconut oil heals and repair the skin cells. It not only lightens your skin but it also moisturizes your skin.

  1. Wash off your face with lukewarm water and clean off all your makeup.
  2. Then take coconut oil on your fingertips and apply underneath your eyes.
  3. Massage gently for at least 30 seconds under each eye and let the oil absorb completely to your skin.

4. Take a #DrinkingWaterChallenge!

Of all the problems out there, water is the best solution.

I keep on telling everyone about the benefits of drinking water. So, please if you are not in a habit of drinking much water, start drinking it. Definitely, it will give benefits to your body internally and externally.

Honestly, I also used to drink not a good amount of water when I was a child. I used to not care about it at all. But later on, I realized how important “WATER” is for our body.

Accordingly, I changed my routine and started drinking 2 litres of water. At first, I used to skip drinking because I was too lazy but then I did #DrinkingWaterChallenge…

I set targets of drinking at least 1 glass of water every hour. It was Easy-peasy this way!😋

So drinking water routine not only helped in reducing my dark circles but also my skin looks fabulous, it reduced my pores and keep me hydrated all day long! 

5. Cucumber slices were of great help.

Have you ever seen those 1960s magazines wherein, those beautiful ladies lounging poolside with cucumber slices on their eyes? This is around maybe more than a decade or so!

But it works! Yes…!

Have you ever tried cucumber slices on your eyes? Didn’t you feel fresh?
Not only it’s an aww for tiring eyes after a hectic day but also it decreases inflammation in puffy eyes or tired skin around your eyes.

I tried this for like 7 days or so and I was so happy with the results it had on my eyes and the freshness I felt can’t write in words.👼

Cucumber, which is water-rich veggie has some astringent properties and enzymes which results in reducing inflammation, pore tightening and hydration. This small treatment also helps you get rid of wrinkles and under-eye bags.

Take 2 slices of fresh cucumber and soak them in lemon juice for 3-5 minutes in the refrigerator and after that place them on your eyes for about 10-15 minutes.

Take care that lemon juice doesn’t get into your eyes.

6. Milk-Orange Juice

Milk-Orange Juice to Get Rid Of Dark Circles At Home Milk contains lactic acid that helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles. The vitamin C and citric acid in orange help lighten the persistent dark circles.

Take half a cup of cold milk and one medium orange. Squeeze out the orange juice and mix it with the milk. Dip the cotton pad or cotton into this mix. Place it over each eye and keep for 20-25 minutes. Wash this off gently.

So overall all these experiments were a great success.😇

My under-eye bags were a wakeup call for me that I need a good amount of sleep daily and all the things I discussed I realized.

A. Baking soda is mildly abrasive and alkaline in nature. It disturbs the surface pH of the skin. It can cause dryness, itchiness, etc. While it is a good exfoliant, it is best to avoid for the delicate skin around the eyes.

A. If you have a genetic predisposition, it might be unavoidable. But sleeping on time and getting plenty of rest, not straining the eyes staring at any screen for long continuous durations, reducing stress, eating a vitamin C and iron-rich diet, using appropriate moisturisers around the eyes, drinking plenty of water, protecting the eyes from the sun, making sure to remove makeup every night, etc are ways to avoid dark circles.
